Marvel Rivals lag: how to lower your ping

By , CEO of Leaven Marketing · Code verified at checkout on

In Marvel Rivals, lag shows up as abilities that don't fire, heroes that freeze mid-fight and damage that doesn't land. The game lets you pick your server, and NetEase has its own network test tool. If you choose a booster, the code LEAVEN takes 10% off GearUP Booster.

Pick the lowest-ping server

According to the official Marvel Rivals FAQ, players can choose the server with the lowest latency when matchmaking, and all platforms (PC, PlayStation and Xbox) use the same servers. In practice:

  • Pick the server with the lowest ping shown in the game.
  • To play with friends on another platform, everyone needs to be on the same server.
  • Adding farther servers can shorten the queue, but usually raises your ping.

Use NetEase’s network tool

NetEase published a guide to a diagnostic tool that sits in the game’s install folder on PC. It doesn’t open inside the game:

  1. Open the folder where Marvel Rivals is installed and run CapturePro.exe.
  2. If you can’t log in or enter a match, run the Network Adaptability Test.
  3. If lag shows up during matches, run the Network Delay Test: pick the servers you usually use or the closest ones, let it run for about 20 seconds and click Stop. You can run it with the game open and stop it when the lag appears.

The results are saved as a .zip file in the tool’s folder, which NetEase asks players to send through the game’s official Discord.

Network fixes that help

  • Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi, on PC and console.
  • Pause downloads and streaming during matches.
  • Restart the router when ping rises for no reason.

GearUP code LEAVEN for Marvel Rivals with less lag

If the server is right, your home network is fine and lag continues, the problem may be the route to the server. In that case a booster can help. According to GearUP, GearUP Booster supports Marvel Rivals and has an option to lock the server and avoid switches that cause ping swings. Results depend on your connection; no booster guarantees a fixed ping.

GearUP Booster has a 3-day free trial that turns into a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. If you subscribe, pick the 12-month plan, which has the lowest monthly price, and enter LEAVEN for 10% off. See the GearUP coupon code guide.

Do boosters work in Marvel Rivals?

They can help when the problem is the route to the server. They don't fix weak Wi-Fi or a crowded home network.
