No app on the console: a router does the work

PS5 doesn’t run third-party apps like GearUP. To boost console games, GearUP sells HYPEREV, which the company describes as “a console booster that also doubles as your router”. You connect it to your home router and to the console, then start the boost from the GearUP Router app on your phone.

What you need

According to GearUP’s console page:

the HYPEREV router, sold separately in the GearUP store;
a GearUP membership, because HYPEREV doesn’t boost without one;
the GearUP Router app to set up the device and choose the game;
two network cables, which come in the box, for a wired setup; wireless also works.

GearUP lists PS5, PS4 and PS4 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, all Xbox One models, Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck and Oculus and Pico headsets. GearUP also mentions a NAT optimizer for newly released games.
