How each one works
According to GearUP, its Adaptive Intelligent Routing (AIR) sends game traffic through optimized paths to reduce ping, packet loss and jitter. ExitLag describes AI route optimization plus extra tools: a network analyzer, a PC boost that frees RAM, Multi-Internet to switch between connections and a traffic shaper.
Neither company publishes test results that can be compared directly, and the improvement depends on your connection, your distance to the game server and the game itself. A booster helps most when the problem is the route between you and the server, not a weak Wi-Fi signal or a saturated home network.
Consoles
This is the clearest difference. GearUP boosts PS5, PS4, Xbox and Switch through HYPEREV, a router sold separately that also needs a GearUP membership. ExitLag’s plans list Windows, Android and iOS. See GearUP Booster on PS5.
Free trials
ExitLag’s trial needs no credit card: 3 days on PC and 7 on mobile, for new accounts. GearUP’s 3-day trial becomes a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. If you try GearUP, set a reminder and cancel at least a day before the trial ends; the free trial guide shows how.
